Veterans

Research has shown that both deployed and non-deployed Veterans have a higher risk of suicide compared to the general U.S. population.

When veterans have faced deployments to hostile environments, exposure to extreme stress, physical/sexual assault while in the service (not limited to women), length of deployments, and service related injury, they are even more likely to experience suicidal thoughts.

The Veterans Crisis Line (1-800-273-8255 and press 1) provides Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring, responders who are familiar with veteran culture and concerns, as well as VA services.
